Finally, lots of snow, brilliant sunshine and cold temps.  Horses were all full of beans today.  We groomed Phoenix and Onyx then took them on their first walk together.  They were sweethearts, but Phoenix got agitated when he saw Teeka taken away by her new owner, so I lunged him awhile then yielded his hindquarters and backed him until he settled down.

I still remember this day.  I remember telling him when he was agitated, "that will never happen to you, buddy.  You're mine forever - I'll never give you away to someone else."  He looked at me like he understood and seemed to calm down a bit with the reassurance.

Had a nice, quiet night with the boys again - it was clear and fairly cold, so no getting stuck in the snow like last week.  We mucked their stalls, then gave them a thorough grooming.  We also tried out "Miracle Groom" for the first time.  You're supposed to use it as a replacement for shampooing in the winter by spraying it on their brushes.  We flexed both horses by the ears tonight - they're doing great at that - then gave them their buckets.  We then hurried home to watch more coverage of Obama's inaugaration - very emotional!

Even now, when I smell Miracle Groom, it reminds me of those nights grooming the horses in their stalls.  So peaceful and calming.
