Temperature was -8 this morning and fell throughout the day.  Groomed Phoenix, tacked him up and rode the perimeter of the upper field, out to the road and down the driveway back home - even went through the farm gate and he was awesome!  Dave groomed Onyx and took him for a long walk.

They're saying freezing rain or snow for tomorrow, so we went to see the boys tonight.  Dave brought Onyx up and we groomed both him and Phoenix, then Dave desensitized Onyx to the stepstool in one of the bottom runs.  He did very well with that and also lifting and holding his feet.  I took Phoenix outside and did some more baby steps with yielding the forequarters.  Pushing him and sending him side-to-side work best. He even did some "almost" sidepassing out in the open!  I was very pleased and he got a head massage as a reward!

Wickedly cold, blustery day, with white-out conditions on the roads and -21C with the windchill, so the boys and I stayed near the shelter.  I filled their water and mucked out the shelter and was amazed to discover both boys remembered how to flex by the ear!  I haven't done that exercise in over a year!  Worked with Phee a bit on lowering his head by touching his poll, and he got a little mouthy with me so I put his halter on and backed him over the beam out of the shelter - he did great with that once he caught on.
