Beautiful sunshine but still cold and windy.  Got Phoenix from turnout and led him up and down the driveway with Kym and Brandy.  The neighbour came down and blew out the driveway with a huge tractor.  Phoenix was awesome - backed up on command and kept under control the whole time.  While grooming him, I think one of the ponies down below bit his ear - he was shaking his head constantly and was reluctant for me to touch him.  I couldn't find a wound or swelling but he's shy around that ear now.  Dave took Onyx for a walk then groomed him.  We also saddled him up for awhile, just so he remembers what it feels like!  (Put Coppersept on Phoenix's hooves.)

What a brutal day! -30C with the windchill and blowing snow with gusts up to 80 kmh.  I don't know what possessed us to drive in white-out conditions, but we did.  I just led Phoenix around the barn, doing backing, yielding the hindquarters and forequarters, desensitized his muzzle, then did slap and tap - he hardly reacted at all to that one.  We rubbed Onyx down, gave him treats, then blanketed him for the next couple of days in these frigid temps.

Flew back to Buffalo (from Texas) via Atlanta.  Got home at 10:30 p.m.
