I tacked up Phoenix and Dave led Onyx - we were going to ride/walk down the driveway and through the field but the snow was so deep we took them into the riding ring instead.  Elsa helped Dave with flexion, backing, getting Onyx to lower his head and lifting his feet for extended periods of time, while I did posting trot exercises around them on Phoenix, as well as yielding his hindquarters along the fence and neck reining.  We had pizza with Rob and Elsa, then went back to the barn where Phoenix was lying in his stall.  He rarely lies down - I hope he was just tired from the exercise, but Elsa is going to watch him for signs of colic.

Mild temperatures and brilliant sunshine today, but still loads of ice on the fields and roads.  Phoenix was already turned out for the day when we got there, but he was very respectful so I groomed him out in the pasture while Dave brought Onyx up.  We went for another long walk - this time up the big hill and right out to the main road to get them used to cars.  They were both fine with that and we also did the usual exercises and flexing.

We were supposed to have Kym accompany us tonight while seeing the horses, but she bailed at 2:00 to go truck-driving instead.  So it was just the two of us enjoying the quiet and company of the boys.  We mucked stalls, then groomed them - Phoenix is starting to shed out his winter coat - a little later than last year, I think.  I did flexing by the ear with both and they were very good - both were much lighter to the touch.

We bought a couple of kittens (that Dave wants to name Hoops and Yo-Yo) from a lady in Tillsonburg tonight.
