Dave and I groomed the horses tonight, then I mucked Phoenix's stall and put new shavings down while Dave cleaned up Onyx and Brandy's run.  I helped him throw straw down there, as well.  Elsa was in the barn when we got there and told us that they had to put Duke to sleep yesterday.  He had a stroke last week, they think, and was having trouble standing.  We had said our goodbyes to him on Sunday because we knew it was coming.  It was really hard tonight, though.  We miss him.

I woke up late and it was lightly snowing so I waited until that ended and wound up only having about an hour with the horses.  I groomed Phoenix and he was being a huge cuddlebug so I just hung out in his stall with him - there was a lot of activity going on in the barn, anyway, since Courtney was there again, along with Ashley, Amanda and some others over March break.  Had to take water down to Onyx's group in buckets - they all looked very thirsty.

Horrible weather day - about 12 mm of rain and winds blowing steady at 50 km/h.  It's unbearably loud and miserable outside - just a constant roaring - so the horses are very jumpy.  We kept them in the corral today.
