Thunderstorms and raining sideways today, so I just groomed Phoenix, put hoof dressing on him and did some flexion and backing.  Onyx was being his typical stand-offish self, so I didn't try to groom him.

Kind of a strange day today.  Phoenix actually joined Onyx in coming up to the gate and we took them to the far end of the riding ring to groom where there was less mud, and Onyx really started acting up for Dave.  When I took him and tried to back him up, he started running circles and tossing his head and pulled himself out of the halter.  He raced back to the gate, but let me catch him again and was quiet as a mouse all the way back.  We walked them both up the driveway and let them graze and Phoenix started to get a little agitated by a bunch of Mennonite buggies - a little kicking up, but he yielded and backed right away when I asked.  Treats at the barn and then flexing from the opposite side.

A bit of rain throughout the day and the wind has really picked up again - about 40 km/h steadily roaring.  We kept the boys in the corral all day and gave them their hay about 6:00.  Met with "our excavator", Dirk, tonight and showed him how we'd like the roundpen area levelled and sand brought in.  He advised us to wait on dumping sand in the corral until we see how it goes with the roundpen.
