Groomed Phoenix, worked on touching his sheath, backing and flexion.  Groomed Onyx, worked on putting his feet down gently, backing, flexion and dropping his head.  Both were very good boys.

Another Sunday with Ashley, but both horses were testing today - probably a little Spring Fever.  Phee very gently tried to bite me today while grooming, so he had a little impromptu Lunging for Respect in a muddy field and some serious backing to the gate.  I rode him bareback up and down the driveway and over the bridge of fast-flowing water - a little scared, but he went over it 4 times.  He kicked up a bit when I spanked him to go forward, but returned to the barn on a loose rein.  Onyx wouldn't let Ashley mount bareback with the stool, so I did some approach and retreat and got on and off a couple of times until he settled down.  She walked and trotted him along the driveway.

Absolutely gorgeous day and Dave and I had to pick up my PR card in London this afternoon, so we were home by 3:30.  We grabbed the horses and Dave led Onyx down to 14 while I rode Phee bareback.  He was fantastic - a little distracted, but I just did a series of circles and One Rein Stops and he behaved perfectly.  I got off by the driveway and led him down by the cut tree and he was fine there, too.  After, we went over by the creek and let them graze for awhile.
