Went for a trail ride on Phee today with Ashley on Onyx and Andrea on Cody.  There were a lot of factors against us (horses haven't been worked all winter, Spring fever, first trail ride in a strange place, etc.) but they did exceptionally well.  We went up into the Phillips' woods, full of boulders, stumps, hills, ravines, muddy paths, water standing and maple syrup buckets and Phoenix only had one moment of insanity, cantering up a hill.  We were gone just under an hour and Onyx acted like he'd been a trail horse his whole life!  Baths afterwards because they were filthy dirty and sweaty, then huge buckets of treats!

Dave had today off so he had the boys in both the roundpen and the side pasture at various times.  I was home by 5:30 so we ate and hung out with the kittens for a bit, then Dave and I both "power-groomed" Phoenix so that I could ride him before the sun set.  We had a great ride - Dave stayed behind to groom Onyx and Phee was very enthusiastic to get out in the field on the other side of the creek.  I did circles and One-Rein Stops to slow him down but no spooking or refusals at all!  I let him graze by the well for a bit, too.
