Dave helped Rob and Elsa build the round pen while I was at work this morning, then Kym, Elsa and I went for a trail ride along the Nith River this afternoon (see specific trailriding journal for details).  Phoenix got all geared up when we turned around to head back, but I pulled him back into a walk after he leaped into a trot.  When we were about a half-mile from home, I put him on a loose rein with the intent to practice one-rein stops and he almost dropped his head to the ground and walked calmly all the way back!

It's bloody cold tonight and is supposed to go below freezing yet.  We grabbed the boys and groomed them up in the yard.  Phoenix has been so good lately (he's pastured in front of the roundpen right now) and tonight he came right to the gate when I called and let me catch him - I'm sure he knows I equal grass!  They were working the fields tonight with a very loud tractor so we took the boys over to desensitize them but they didn't really care.  Walked and jogged around the farm and let them graze a lot.

Had Graham from Tavistock Vet out today to give the horses their annual vaccinations, float their teeth and get their sheaths cleaned.  (Dave took the day off.)  Because the vet was late getting here, I had a chance to do the sending exercise with both horses and some desensitizing.  They both did great with the groundwork, although Onyx still threw a temper tantrum with the needles.
